[Avid-L2] New MC 4.0.2 system slow

I recently purchased an Avid MC editing computer from ProMAX (HP Z400, 10GB
RAM, HP Quadro FX-3800 graphics card) upgrading from MC 2.7 to 4.0. I am
editing from P2 files on a FireMAX firewire 800 drive using AMA. It takes
about 30 seconds to cut a clip from a 1.5 hour sequence (no effects, just
rough cut). It takes 5 seconds or longer from an 18 minute sequence. ProMAX
suggests this is normal; I assume because of how AMA accesses the P2 files
(this slowness was not an issue for my 2.7 system and imported P2 clips). We
tried optimizing the registry. Two questions. Would the addition of a Mojo
DX help significantly? Should I transcode the timeline to DNxHD 110 MXF and
then edit? Other suggestions? Thanks. David.
