[Avid-L2] Re: OT: ABC news lays of 20 percent of staff

--as they hire more inexexperienced students who are placed in key positions of broadcast shows, they will loose more and more audience. Ask a young person where they get their information, I have.... its not from TV, its on the web. And they are spending time on customized blogs. News is not vetted, its tweeted and facebooked, and citizen journos being handed an open free site to post information, like the Times in NYC has sent a death knell to the the information providers. Cheap and quick will not necesarily make good, most news managers know this, most bean counters and senior executives care only for profits. Look at how thin the LA Times is, how many newspapers have died this year alone. ABC whittling down its news staff AGAIN, is not done until the 14 year with the camera and FCP laptop is now anchoring a broadcast.

bah!

The future of network news has died.

And from the boardrooms of CNN and other formerly respectable news
divisions erupted great cheering, as they realized they'd all just
been overtaken and damn near lapped in that great race to the bottom :(
