Then ensure everyone has full access to the avid media files folder and in the advance tab ensure that is inherited by all the objects below (not on an XP PC at the moment so can't remember the actual name of the tick box but it maybe copy permissions to child objects)
Permission problems can create just those issues. Also check read only hasn't become ticked.
