New Avid QuickTime Codec packages are available and fix issues where QuickTime exported using the Avid DV codec, DVCPro codec, or an MPEG codec resulted in black video.

If any of you require the fix for the MPEG codec's, you have to contact Avid Customer Success to obtain the QuickTime Codec's PE package. Note that the MPEG codec is only available to customers who purchased a copy of Avid Media Composer, Avid Newscutter, or Avid Symphony. This does NOT require that you have a support contract, only that you can provide evidence of a legally purchased copy of the software listed above.
Important - If you require the QuickTime Codec's PE package you should contact warranty@avid.com using the subject line - Request QT Codec PE 2.2.1 - and provide in the body of the email your name, phone, email, product purchased and system ID in order for Avid to verify legitimacy of their request. Dont post your system ID here :)
Another note..... MC 4.0.5.1 is now available on the avid.com download site under Avid Editor Patches. A bunch of folks have downloaded the patch and installed thnking it would solve the QT issue. Nope.... MC 4.0.5.1 is an editor patch and comes in 2 flavors... one for PC (you dont have to uninstall 4.0.5 just click on the patch image)and one for Mac which is a complete installer.....
You need the new codecs to fix the black issues.
Lastly.... you should see additional patches on the site as well.
The patches listed below, fix a number of outstanding issues which are outlined in the ReadMe document that accompany each patch download.
