Your advice is well taken. I too think HTML5 will be the solution
that's coming down the pike. However it currently has issues of it's
own. Most notably is codec standardization. Are we going to
standardize on h.264 or Ogg Theora? Or will it be a hodge podge of
codecs with no standardization? What's the old saying, the problem
with standards is there's to damn many of them!
As for Google developing the ad solutions, I am sure you're right on
that, I'm just afraid of how much of my ad revenue they want to take.
Currently I chase my own sponsors, sell my own ads and keep all of my
revenue. The only real cost of delivering the ads if the licensing of
the JW player and plugins which is under 300 frog pelts a year.
Just when I think I have it all figured out, all the rules change!! :-)
