I think it may be time to bone up on HTML5
Google are into it, and they like a bit of ad revenue, so I think the ad
facilities may develop fast.

Okay, I'll admit it, I am an Apple fanboy and yes I will buy the iPad.
However, being someone who derives a good amount of income producing
video content for internet delivery I do have a bone to pick with
Apple. Mainly the lack of support for Flash in the iPad.
With Flash being the most ubiquitous way to deliver video over the
internet it seems ridiculous not to allow this. Additionally there are
tools already in place for content developers that allow for things
like ad insertion which we depend on for revenue. Those tools are
available in flash video players like the JW player that we use
exclusively on our site. To my knowledge there is no such plugin or
player that allows the same functionality that is non-flash.
So, Apple, if you are determined to not allow Flash in your new
gadget, please at least develop a tool for those of us that develop
online content that will allow us to have the robust feature sets that
are available to us in the current flash based video players. Things
like ad insertion and stats tracking would be a great start.
Okay, now back to being a fanboy!
