[Avid-L2] Re: SRW-5500 Closed Captioning

Dom according to Sony it should work. I just talked to them this morning about it. I was surprised that they said it was critical to have both decks locked to house sync even though the Sony tech said the record machine would lock to incoming video he said both decks need to be feed common sync so jitter won't effect the captioning data. It sounded a little fishy to me but this was straight from a Sony tech. You do have to setup the Vanc data on the record machine. This is in the HDCam VANC Packet Select menu. I was told to set line 1 ANC 1 to 009 and line 2 ANC 1 to 572. I don't have any HD decks in house to check this out right now. Let me know if you want the Sony Product Operations Support Center number. I'd love to find the solution. You're not the only one that has had this problem.
