[Avid-L2] Re: DX HDMI monitoring?

If you do decide to go the route of a consumer monitor -- you might want to look into AJA's Hi-5 3G. It takes accepts any HD profile via its HD-SDI in -- and it "unifies" and outputs any pSf profiles -- into progressive over HDMI. It's worked well for me.

As a footnote, I have had many conversations with Avid on this subject -- and here is a support inquiry response dated December 3rd, 2009 that sums-up the situation quite nicely:

"The Avid sends the HD SDI and HDMI signals out as Progressive Segmented Frames. Some TV/monitors can interpret this signal and display it. Unfortunately, right now, Avid does not fully support 23.976 and 24 fps through HDMI. We know of some people that have luck with these frame rates and again, it depends on what TV they have. We do have plans to add this support in a future release, but I do not have a time frame for that. From what I understand, there are some hardware and software changes needed to make this work. My advice to you is to get on the forums and ask for it. The more customers demand it, the more Avid will have to address it".

Hope that helps.
