the horrible, horrible servo on the lens. Paired it with a mount and
Anton battery and it literally runs for days. Slap an adapter on it and
you can use Nikon and/or HD lenses. We've been using Nikon tele's with
some amazing results.
I'm not on the most current version of Avid, and haven't played with AMA
yet though. Our work flow has been to use the Sony Clip Browser
software to "pre edit" decent footage rather than just dumping
everything wholesale. Then we "export to mxf for NLE's" to a dedicated
hard drive. Back that drive up on a second drive, then wipe the cards.
At this point, though, there is a product out there that lets you use
high end HD chips in an adaptor - and at the price of those, it's at the
point where we may start buying dedicated chips for each project. The
cost is comparable with tape.
We have had some linking issues where clips had to be re-imported and
re-laid into the sequence, but it hasn't happened often enough that I've
spent a lot of time troubleshooting.
