Just thought I'd ask the assembled Mac users whether anyone has any
opinions on upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard at this stage.
I'm about to upgrade from FCS2 to FCS3 (or FCS 2009 if you prefer) and
from Avid MC v3.1 to Avid v4 on a 2.5GHz Core2 Duo MacBook Pro (4GB
RAM) which is currently quite happily running Leopard. There's no
great reason I can see for me to upgrade to Snow Leopard at this stage
since neither FCP nor Avid require it, but since both are qualified
for it, the thought of doing all my major upgrades in one fell swoop
is rather appealing - assuming it's not going to cause major problems.
If I do the OS upgrade, it would be a completely fresh install. I'm
planning to run both FCP and Avid on the same partition as I've been
doing with Leopard (obviously being careful about QT/OS version).
There's no hardware I/O involved (at the moment anyway). The only
other concerns would be whether CS3 will be happy on Snow and what I
should do about my boot-camp installation of Windows XP, which I often
run as a virtual machine with Fusion.
Opinions anyone? Is the OS upgrade worth the bother, or am I better
sticking with Leopard for now?
Thank you all in advance,
David
