and a Targus Numeric Keypad and the enter button is working to move x number of frames in the timeline.
Perhaps this was a bug fix but it is working hitting the + or - typing in a number and hitting enter on the keypad.
Hey all,
I do most of my work on a MacBook Pro Unibody, running 10.5.6 and MC
v3.5.x.
I decided to get a USB numeric keypad from Adesso
(http://www.adesso.com/products_detail.asp?productid=139
) because Apple (in their infinite wisdom) has removed the numeric
keypad from the laptop (afaik).
The good news:
My Mac does recognize the keypad, as do applications such as Simple
Text and Excel.
My issue:
Avid MC will take the +, - and numbers but appears to recognize the
"Enter" key on the Adesso keypad as if I were hitting the "Return" key
on my laptop keyboard. In this case I get the wonderful system "bonk"
sound. I've already tried futzing with the keyboard prefs in the OS,
including trying to get the OS to recognize the keypad in the Apple
dialog. If I set it to "US" then it works fine in other apps besides
Avid.
On my laptop keyboard, if I press the function key (fn) + return key,
after first entering + or - and numbers with the Adesso keypad then
the Mac OS/Avid recognize this as "Enter," and I get the behavior in
the Avid that I want (moving forward/backward in the Source or
Timeline).
Anyone know of:
1 - a way to get the Mac OS and/or Avid to recognize a press of the
"Enter" key on the Adesso keypad as a press of fn + Return on the
laptop itself?
2 - a way to get Avid to recognize the numbers across the top of the
laptop keyboard?
3 - an external keypad that will work with Avid on 10.5.6/v3.5.x?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this . . .
B
