Its my understanding that the GOP for each M2T file is correctly closed at an I-Frame. If spanned clips are imported, they can be dropped one after the other and no frames are lost. There might actually be a duplicate frame at the cut point.
If you'd like to combine the spanned M2T files use the "Sony Recording Unity Utility." This will combine the M2T files into a single file.
