The Associate Media Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall support and well being of Editorial, Dailies, and Media Operations systems for Film and Animation studio. Develop, install, and maintain digital media systems in the Lucasfilm production and post production environments. Provide systems and procedural support to production and technical staff.

Frontline technical support for non-linear edit systems, edit suites, color grading systems and supporting equipment like routers, displays, projectors, etc.
Frontline support for multiple screening rooms, machine rooms, and conference rooms.
Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues involving video, audio, and file-based media production workflow.
Work with Sr. Engineers, Production, and Facilities to design, install and document new media productions systems.
Partner with software and hardware engineers to develop and implement new procedures and workflows as required by editorial and production.
Preparation of end-user and engineering documentation.
Required to be part of 'on-call' rotation, approx one week out of 6.


Requirements


Minimum of 4 years experience as a media systems support engineer preferably with a major Film/TV, Animation, or Post Production facility.
Integrating and supporting editorial systems and workflows, including Avid Media Composer Adrenaline, Nitris DX, Avid Meridien, Avid Unity, Final Cut Studio.
Experience operating, supporting, and troubleshooting routers, VTRs, signal converters, patchbays, KVM extenders.
Excellent understanding of HDSDI single/dual link signals, frame rates, analog and digital audio and other signal types used in post-production.
Strong understanding of image file formats and workflow for animation and visual effects (dpx, exr, mxf, xml, mov, etc).
Understanding of application of color theory, calibration, and display technology including dCinema Projectors, CRT, LCD/Plasma displays.
Must possess methodical troubleshooting and problem solving skills down to the signal level.
Strong understanding of Mac OSX and Windows XP operating systems and experience with computer hardware maintenance and practices.
Basic knowledge of Linux operating system necessary.
Experience with high performance shared storage systems.
Understanding of IP networking technologies and practices.
Thorough understanding of rs232 and rs422 serial communication protocols, timecode, genlock, and other synchronization methods.
Expert cable making skills and experience with large post production studio wiring practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to compose accurate and thorough workflow diagrams and SOPs.
Ability to generate and interpret wiring schematics and technical documentation.
Ability to perform well as individual and team contributor within a fast paced, deadline-driven production environment.
AutoCAD experience a plus.
ACSR preferred.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred.
Ability to provide own transportation between studios, up to 30miles, on a regular basis.
