Oliver's 100% right about the rolling shutter problem. We shot a few VFX plates with the 5D but ONLY night shots that were relatively static. To comp with 35mm, daylight motion is just too problematic. The same 'skew, wobble and jello artifacts' make these cameras unsuitable for a lot of serious VFX work. Maybe that's acceptable at a certain level of the industry but it's not for mainstream theatrical features.

That said, I'm sure it'll all be worked out soon enough.

Definitely true, but until the rolling shutter issue gets sorted out, that counts these camera out (for now) for serious 3D, other than YouTube. That may end up being Scarlet's niche. In any case, the skew, wobble and jello artifacts of the three brands today would be a killer for 3D matches. Your brain would literally explode from the headache ;-)

More reasonable right here and now would be fielding cheaper multi-camera shoots.
