[Avid-L2] Re: Mac Smoke Official

Thats true, Mark, but if I own a facility and want to add a McSmoke, I would create a new suite specifically for that system. First for performance, then usage and finally image (and to our clients, so much relies on image! Especially my ad clients). I think a lot of folk are thinking "well, I'll just add it to my current FCS suite and away we go".

That certainly is one way to go, but the last thing I would want to do is block out high-rate smoke hours because a much lower rate FCP gig is in the suite. Sure, spend the $999 to have FCS on your McSmoke rig for project prep, testing, trouble shoot, etc, but I want to sell those high dollar hours if I am making that investment.

Competition is good. I would love to have a DS-soft running on my Mac system for finish prep...one can dream, eh?

Plus he's loaded it with a lot of other niceties that aren't required for the system to operate, such as the Dreamcolor monitors. Here's a similar FCP configuration I've done (download the spreadsheet).
