[Avid-L2] New editors and shared storage releases today - snow leopard

In the spirit of communication and because you were teased last week by the website.........

Heads up..... We have just released the following new editors and shared storage updates today Monday, November 23, 2009 in support of Snow Leopard.

* Avid Media Composer v4.0.4 (Mac and PC)
* Avid Symphony v4.0.4 (Mac and PC)
* Avid NewsCutter v8.0.4 (PC)
* Avid Unity ISIS v2.1
* Avid Unity MediaNetwork v5.2

Editor Important Notes:
- This release has been qualified with Mac OS® X Snow Leopard® v10.6.2.
- Apple Mac OS 10.5.8 Leopard is also compatible for use with Avid Media Composer v4.0.4 and Avid Symphony v4.0.4.
- Customers should NOT perform an upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard OS. They MUST perform a clean install of Snow Leopard in order for the editors (Avid Media Composer v4.0.4 or Avid Symphony v4.0.4) to install properly.
- These are full installers and contain additional fixes and performance improvements. The v4.0.4/v8.0.4 editors do not require a dongle or SW licensing update when upgrading from v4.x/v8.0.
- Important information has been added to the audio device compatibility section. For example, Pro Tools v8.0.3 and later does not include support for the Mbox 1. If you want to use Mbox 1, you should use Pro Tools v8.0.1. See "Audio Device Compatibility with Avid Editing Applications and Pro Tools" on page 25 and "Co-Install Supported Configurations" on page 26 of the ReadMe documents for updated information.
- QuickTime X is tested and supported with Snow Leopard and Avid Media Composer v4.0.4 and Avid Symphony v4.0.4 however, Apple does NOT have a QuickTime Pro version of QuickTime X at this time. Users of QT Pro should be sure to choose the optional QT 7 install. Also, Snow Leopard removes the MPEG2 codec component if you had it installed previously under FCP. If you have FCP installed or if you purchased the MPEG 2 codec from Apple, first move it from your codecs folder to the desktop before upgrading to Snow Leopard.
- Any Academic system that is currently at v4.0.x/v8.0.x can be upgraded to v4.0.4/v8.0.4 as well.

Storage Important Notes:
- Avid Unity ISIS v2.1 is for Snow Leopard support.Version 2.1 is a Macintosh Snow Leopard client software release that is supported in v2.0.x and v1.7 and later infrastructures.
- Avid Unity MediaNetwork v5.2 is a Snow Leopard client software release that is supported in v5.1.3 and v4.2.4 infrastructures.
- Avid Unity MediaNetwork v5.2 is NOT supported with v4.1.6 infrastructures.
- Avid Unity ISIS and Avid Unity MediaNetwork can use Snow Leopard v10.6.1 or higher.
