There's a thread about this on Reduser.net - I think I was reading
through it yesterday, so it's probably not too far down the page...
Some pretty good ideas.
I don't think you need a tapedeck per se - more important to be able
to do playback of some kind, though- at least for commercials -
without having to use the camera or it's media for playback.
Personally I think duplicate hard drives, and MAYBE LTO4... I don't
know if people are actually using that, or not. We switched to LTO3
for archiving here, then switched back to hard drives after about 6
months. The convenience of hard drives outweighs the 'longevity' of
LTO. Once a backup harddrive is full, we clone it.
You might consider a 'Rocket Fuel' box, too... oh, heck, check the
reduser thread as I'm just repeating what's been gone over there...
