Most people are using the Zoom 4N for their sound http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h4n/index.php
And then using a neat bit of software called PluralEyes to sync it up.
You can run as many Zooms as you like ( they are reasonably priced at
US$600 but I have seen street prices well under that. You need a
reasonable guide track on the camera, throw everything (even other
cameras ) into the time line and it does a sync up based on the audio
waveform, works a treat.
