I'm not too sure that all these SDK's are always mature enough for any other
company to work with (including Apple). But that's hear-say, so that may not
be correct.

What interests me is that, when working in R3D natively during cutting,
you'd probably want to stay in RedSpace for the entire process. That'd
seriously limits screening possibilities, I reckon? I mean, at any point in
time can I take a 709 file or tape (or Ki Pro) to any screening room
equipped with the right inputs, and I can make it display the 1920x1080
Rec709 image from my DNxHD cutting copy (including rough grades). I'd hate
to have to calibrate each and every venue that production might book (at the
very last minute) in order to be able to screen the cutting copy in
RedSpace. Also, any SD DVD I need to strike is easily done.
Just saying: regular plain vanilla linear (HD) video is a pretty nice
standard when it comes to things like this, and anything out of the ordinary
might complicate matters.
As we have seen over the last decades: more options, more ways to Rome,
different benefits, different culprits. Interesting times, for sure.
Please do keep us informed about your experience with the Rocket. Pretty
promising stuff, I think.
