> My real question is about how the BVW-70 is handling sync with the
component input. The picture with head switching issues is not off
vertically. Does the beta deck derive it's head switching pulses based
on the house sync ref? I don't think there is any sync on any of the
component signals coming in so my recollection is it's all based on
house reference.
I offer:
It's been a really long time since I've dealt with this but as I
recall, there is sync on luminance when you use the component input.
Is the AJA converter producing sync on luminance? Check for that.
There should be no visible head switching when using the component
input. Your Beta SP deck should be set to either "Automatic Sync Ref"
or "Input Ref" (preferably "Auto"). It should NOT be set to house sync
ref (labeled as "Ext Ref" I believe). The sync reference should come
from the input video ANY time you are recording, whether it be hard
record or insert/assemble. This is set with a switch, which as I
faintly remember, is found under the control panel. If it's not there,
it's in a menu. However, if you're seeing the vertical interval in the
picture while recording, this is an indication that the system's output
sync reference is different from the input video's timing. It will
look that way only while you are recording. Once you play it back
normally, it will look correct and there will be nothing wrong with the
recording.
