[Avid-L2] Re:Media Composer with DX hardware

May I hitchhike on your question?

After months of experimenting with MC software, I was about to buy for me
and my students a MojoDX box, thinking that the NitrisDX would have no added
value for our projects, since we work entirely from P2 files (in DVCProHD
and AVC-I 100) and use no tape decks. But we do want the ability to edit the
highest quality high-def video and export it to a format for theatrical
screenings or HD broadcast. So I¹ve been reading the Avid website and
talking with Avid sales people. I¹m still not able to answer this question:

If we plan to work only with file-based media, creating no media digitizing
from tape, is there any advantage to buying the NitrisDX box over the
MojoDX? Leaving aside differences in the computers, does Nitris provide any
increase in responsiveness that one would notice during editing? Does it
allow playing more effects in real time, or access to higher levels of DNxHD
than Mojo does? In other words, does Nitris offer any benefits other than
the ability to input and output analogue sources?

Below is the one-year-old computer we¹re using for MCS v4.02:

Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
OSX 10.5.7
Memory 8 GB
Graphics Card NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600
Two 30-inch Apple Cinema monitors
Apple RAID card, 4 1TB internal hard drives

Thank you for your advice and counsel.
