work. We had hours of Red footage come in on drives. Metafuze seemed to
take a long time to convert and the color wasn't exactly right (could fix
in cc but thats not the point). Looked slightly soft and bluish (these were
interviews on white bkgnd). This is on a PC BTW. No way to apply a
RedGamma in Metafuze. Tried Red Cine. Worked fine with one file. Set up a
batch (there are 17 hours of footage here) with about 20 files for a test in
Red Cine). Picture was fine, audio drifted out of sync progressively on
every clip. This is what we did. On our FCP system, we set up a "look"
preset in RedAlert. This was applied to all clips in Log and Transfer and
output to ProResHQ QT files. These QT files I can import into my PC
Symphony v4 and they look fine. I'm amazed that ProRez is importing into PC
symph with no issues. The one thing we did find is that the files on the
FCP system that were created out of Log and Transfer are still a 2K frame
size (they get resized during import, but they are still large files.)
Right now, I'm using FCP Mediatool to Recompress to 720p 23.98 (my final
requirement) and than will import into Symphony. I do not need to go back
to R3D files. These will be my final files. The quality is good for the end
product. I'm exhausted just typing this.
Any comments on this workflow, how it might be smoothed out? Is there a
setting in Log and Transfer (FCP) to output 720p instead of the 2K it is
outputting?
Thanks,
KEN
