[Avid-L2] Matching to non promoted Motion effect SNDX 3.5.4 on Mac OS 10.5.6?

I know on a pc I was able to match to a non promoted motion effect by hitting Ctrl/alt and matchframe (or some such combo).  I can't seem to find the magic key combo on a mac.  Anybody know?  I can always promote the motion effect and get a match but that's cheating isn't it?
