Re: [Avid-L2] preferred LARGE plasma displays?

I have not hauled it into the Adrenaline bay which has a 60" plasma now
(cuz I want the LED all to myself) , so it's mostly HDMI from a
Sci-Atlanta HD-DDR, (degraded HD cables signals and recorded content).
Far from pristine, but pretty sweet. Live HD sports and beer ads are
jawdropping, of course, and the 120-240hz processing make action, pans
and zooms much sharper. LEDs are pretty much are calibrated when you
turn them on and don't need to "warmup" to the full brightness and color
temp.

I have noticed that the "Lost" season 1 DVD's look so good (via
component SD) that I have sworn at times we are watching them in HD.
That was pretty amazing. A good Bluray title would be really fun to
watch. (Best Buy must have one hooked up to an LED by now).

To me, film and 24FPS sourced material looks especially good on the
LED. HBO movies, HD serial dramas, even vintage flix transferred to
HD. I found no specs relating 24P support but they do support multiple
PC resolutions and refresh rates. They also support various 1080 media
files, played straight off a USB drive.

This is all subjective, but the LED advantages over LCD are pretty
obvious - at the same price point, it's a no brainer.

My impression is that you can go up one full size in these LEDs and
retain the same or better image quality. So a 55" should show fewer
artifacts that you would normally see.

LEDs will look incredibly sharp next to that energy-hogging plasma
toaster, but these have a fairly useful controls (for dynamic range,
sharpness and backlight) to tone things down.

Like you said - interesting.
