Re: [Avid-L2] New Mac Pro with BootCamp?

It's an old 2010 MacBook Pro. 8GB RAM and I'm on Media Composer v8.x but it works fine, if a bit sluggish if using AMA and compressed video.  Like John, I'm a Mac person but needed to check out Windows for testing.

That's interesting Roger. Which MacBook Pro and any headaches associated with running Windows 10 on it?

Rather than Bootcamp, on my test MacBook Pro, I have two partitions. One is Mac OS the other is Windows 10. Media Composer runs fine on the Windows partition. Boot with the Option key to choose the OS.

At work they are looking into upgrading the online suite from a mid 2010 MacPro NitrisDX setup to perhaps a new MacPro with Avid and Resolve.  The Catalina restriction is a concern given our infrastructure but it was suggested to add boot camp to run Windows 10 to allow for older Avid versions that still have title tool etc.  You know the things we use everyday.

We are very mac centric at the production company but this sounds like a reasonable approach in the short term while the Public Beta gets ironed out.  Curious if anyone sees a big downside to running bootcamp on a new macpro.  I realize you can get more bang for the buck with a PC but mac is the devil we know with our limited engineering support it sounds like something we should consider.
