[Avid-L2] Re: Changes to Media Composer Licenses in 2019

Hi Michael....

Here is the net net on the situation....

After May 30th, 2019:

1. If you already have a perpetual license – software or dongle – under contract or not - nothing happens. You can keep using, renewing and upgrading, your software or not – there is no change to what you can and can't run. THIS CHANGE DOES NOT AFFECT YOU.

2. If you already have a subscription, when the subscription is next renewed, it will only run 2018.9 or higher. This is true for an annual or month-to-month subscription.

3. If you buy a NEW subscription or perpetual software license after May 30th, 2019, it will only run 2018.9 or higher

4. If you buy a NEW dongle perpetual license, it will run all the same versions a current dongle can run – there is no change to dongles.

Note: If you already have a perpetual license and the upgrade and support plan has expired, then you will experience NO change; your license will continue to work and run the versions it ran before. If at some point after May 30th, 2019, you have a desire to upgrade your software, then your new purchase would be subject to the items above. For example, a crossgrade to an MC | Ultimate Subscription is seen as a new subscription and would therefore only be able to run 2018.9 or higher.
