Re: [Avid-L2] Audio Channel Re-assignment for Group Clips

Sol, thanks for your response. The conundrum here is that I need all eight of my ISO channels all the time, not just when switching. Since the audio I want is on the first two channels of each camera, when I group the clips, I can't monitor all eight at once since they're stacked on the first two channels. That's why I'm looking for a solution to re-map the audio channels (possibly before grouping), so I can simply drop a group clip in the timeline and have the audio channels properly mapped on tracks 1-8.

I hope I understood your question -- if you group your clips and load the group into the source window, there is a button at the top left of the source window which will allow "Audio follow Video," which means each time you switch cameras, the corresponding tracks to that camera are also loaded and will be the the ones you're using if you cut a clip into your sequence.

The button becomes highlighted if this function is chosen.

Subject: [Avid-L2] Audio Channel Re-assignment for Group Clips

I'm working on multicam project with four cameras and eight ISO audio (mic) channels. The audio is distributed so that the first two channels of each camera hold two mics (4 cams x 2 mics each = 8 channels total). All were recorded at XDCAM50.

What is the best method for grouping these clips and keeping the audio properly assigned and organized cleanly and efficiently?

I know it's possible to group the clips using the standard procedure, and then duplicate and adjust the track order within the timeline. I also know it's possible to use AutoSync to make subclips with the proper audio assignments, but I'm dealing with thousands of clips, so this method won't be efficient in my circumstance.

To posit a possible solution, does a method exist to re-assign the audio channels of the clips as a batch process before I even group them? Basically automating the AutoSync process mentioned above.

Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.
