Re: [Avid-L2] Medianet 5 real time streams of DNX 145 vs. Isis 5K and 7K

My understanding is that ultimately the show will be delivered XDCam50.  My gut tells me DNX 145 is a more robust codec but my gut also tells me to eat OKI Dogs.  I would think that 7 streams of XDCam50 multicam might be very taxing for the CPU.  We have been onlining our recent XDCam series using the consolidated XDCam 50 as source material without issue but I'm not running multicam in online.

Is anybody pulling 7 plus streams of XDCam50 in a multicam environment without performance issues?  The ultimate goal is to offline in full res so there is no uprezzing in the end.

I offer:

I don't know if I'm jumping in inappropriately here or not, but why not use XDCAM-50 instead of DNxHD145?  XDCAM50 uses one third the data rate of DNxHD145 and the quality of the picture is virtually the same (at least I can't tell the difference).  The lower data rate means more streams are available for all your stations.  We changed from DNxHD145 to XDCAM50 about 4 years ago and it's been excellent.
