Re: [Avid-L2] subtitles

Thanks Bouke

I think Subbits would be great for doing sub titles in various parts of the show if I was up for doing the transcribing but I don't want to transcribe this much dialogue.  I can barely get a lower third spelled correctly these days.  Ideally I want to send the show out to get transcribed and have a file created for me.  Does subbits let you import a txt or stl file?

Lou,
SubCap is still there, and it still sucks (On a lot of fonts, it crops a bit of the bottom.)
An alternative can be to use a QT with Alpha. My subtitler tool can make them. (At the cost of not being editable in Avid of course)
And they are very small, as each title is just one frame, stretched to it's duration.
Download Subbits from my site and toy with it.

You can AMA link to these QT's and paste over the video, fairly painless.
If it's a one off and you don't like SubCap, send me the file (can be STL or something else), and I'll convert it for you.

Note, STL has become a bastard format with a lot of dialects. If you have special / accented characters in your titles, I would either do a very good QT, or avoid it.
(Avid can also import text if formatted properly, that's what some of my customers use to work with Subcap, mostly for guide tracks on foreign languages that the edtiors do not speak.)

Subject: [Avid-L2] subtitles

I have a client request for subtitles on an internal video running about 13 minutes. Video not edited yet. I remember doing this several years ago in english and several languages so I sent all the videos out of house for translation and got back, i believe, .stl files for import using the sub cap effect on top layer. Im in MC 8.5 now. Titles are just english subtitles this time. Is there a different workflow for this now of still best to send out for the stl file?

Thanks
