So how would the proxy to full rez ever work for 720P 59.94 material? The proxies are Mpeg 4 SD 29.97and the full rez is 50Mbits XDCam at 59.94. I agree with what you are saying but I've never had to suss out the who 60 frame vs 30 frame timecode and how Avid handles it. I always assumed that Avid would just be handling the each full frame as a Psf when it got ingested into Avid and they had a scheme for talking the 60 frames and treating them like 30 time code wise where the "*" after the time code meant it was the second full frame of the 720P 59.94 frames when ingested into Avid.
Can somebody clarify how Avid handles the 60 frame time code and how given the difference between the XDCam SD Proxy and the Full Rez Media could ever relink between the two. It seems like the basic necessity to the workflow but it seems to be alluding us.
Are work around now is to legacy import the high rez media and then transcode it to DNX 220. Once that is done we can transcode the DNX 220 to an SD offline resolution and for online just relink back to the DNX 220 media. We didn't add tape names but have confirmed that the Disk Label is carried through the transcoding process.
