Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Export Dolby AC3 from MC7 timeline?

This is open source, you really have no clue what it is unless you dive in.
But i suspect there are at least 10 times more develepors on it then on MC, and that is a conservative guess

Interesting, Bouke. I had to look up what FFmpeg was and got my first laugh of the day:

"FFmpeg is the leading multimedia framework, able to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream, filter and play pretty much anything that humans and machines have created. It supports the most obscure ancient formats up to the cutting edge. No matter if they were designed by some standards committee, the community or a corporation. "

Love that bold intent. I'll check it out. Thanks, Bouke, for expanding my awareness of the en-de-code-mux universe. :)

Thanks, Marianna, I've gone that route and can import and decode AC3. My goal though is to encode AC3, as Job noted, and unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a license or MC plug-in for that. There is for ProTools, as the link Dom shared shows, but it's very expensive and I'm not a ProTools guy.

Job, I'm using Encore (as you probably guessed) to create blu-ray disks for film festivals and special screenings. Unfortunately, it only takes AC3 for surround, as far as I know. I could export PCM surround from MC but Encore doesn't take it.

I prefer DTS surround encoding on blu-rays, and would like to offer that as an option on the disk.

Is there a way to export DTS from MC? And is there a blu-ray authoring app (beside the $~3K one from Sony) that can work with it?

Thanks again,
Roberto
