I wonder if the issue I mentioned might have actually been a sample from the wrong place off screen. It would happen when I was tracking things and I remember there was a time if you had to tracked paint effect stacked when you got to the second effect on top of the first when you tried to position the shape it would snap away from where you left it when I tapped the wacom pen. It happened when the paint effect below had been tracked and even though this was an upper separate track and effect it got effect in a position fight when placed over the other effect. You got to where you would put the shape with a guesstimate position offset and hope it sling shooted into place when you released. That bug went away a few years back, but again it speaks to a position offset. Maybe my sample problem grabbed somewhere outside the raster and that's where the black came in.

I sampled a white shirt that looks perfectly balanced and the sample showed a drab olive green. There are no additional tracks. This is track one only with no effects. So the sampling seems wrong. Guess I'll restart.
Steve-what's your display resolution set at?-can you try with SMPTE bars and see if it picks the right colors?

Subject: [Avid-L2] Possible Symphony CC bug in 8.3?
I have reset my user to a fresh user setting, so I followed my own typical advice whenever someone is experiencing something that is too weird to be a bug…
Running 8.3.0 with Symphony option on latest MacBookPro Retina, no hardware, Yosemite 10.10.2.
Everything else works perfectly, but whenever I choose Secondary using the syringe I get a COMPLETELY different color than the selection. I've had this on numerous clips. Pulled a flesh tone from decently shot footage and got a blue custom vector. Pulled a secondary on a SCREAMING red Hawaiian shirt (trying to tone it down a notch) and pulled a muted yellow/gold. Tried to pull a sky secondary and got tan.
The NON custom vectors work perfectly. If I select a blue "wedge" vector, I can manipulate it properly.
Anyone else on this same OS/hardware/version with Symphony option?
I need help from someone who understands color correction. Is there someone like that on this list? :-)
