Does anyone know of a good alternative for quickkeys on windows 7 and up. They have not updated it in years for windows and so it's not an option. I've asked this question a few times in various places and no one seems to have a good option. It makes grouping on a windows machine a horrific nightmare not being able to automate the steps.

Here's a few things that come to mind if you're just getting started with Quickeys.
Quickeys isn't updated for Mavericks. It seems to mostly work, though -- search the Startly site for a couple of workarounds involving accessibility System Preferences, and turning off App Nap.
You can mimic keyboard entry in 2 different ways - by 'type text' or by 'insert keystroke'. If one method isn't working for you, try the other.
There is a global setting for the speed of text typing, which you may need to adjust if it seems like macro keystrokes are getting lost or the timing of them is off. You might be able to make macros more reliable by using functions like waiting for windows to be created or dismissed, rather than just inserting a fixed pause. I find some of my macros that rely on pauses are much less reliable if I am doing something compute intensive like background transcoding, for instance.
Quickeys will probably seem much handier to someone who is used to editing with keyboard shortcuts. Of course if you switch between multiple keyboard settings, you'll have to make sure the keyboard shortcuts you're using in a macro aren't changed in the keyboard setting that is active.

In another thread, Roger Shufflebottom related a trick with QuickKeys to match back to a clip and have the In and Out of the segment in the timeline replicated in the clip:
Mark Clip, Go to In, Match Frame, Go to out, Mark Out.
Go to out will automatically stop at the frame in the source clip that matches the last frame used of the segment on the timeline. These are 5 of the six steps used to create subclips while multigrouping. Most AEs have these hooked up to their Quickeys. Obviously this would be better with a built in function or built in macro player, but the functionality is there.
Anyone else care to share any QuickKeys tricks (whether for editors or AEs)?
