Yeah, well Avid needs to get going with some biggies - starting with a new playback engine including resolution independence, the ability to run more tasks in the background, etc. I have been waiting for this ever since they went to 64 bit.
Several months ago I upgraded to a new coffee can Mac Pro w/8 cores, 32 GB RAM and the AMD 700 GPUs, and I am running 7.0.4 on OSX 10.9.2. I am using Thunderbolt drives for editing. This machine is everything I had hoped for.
I am starting to use Premiere Pro CC more often now although Avid remains my primary tool for client work. PP runs beautifully on the new MP (as does the rest of the CC suite, especially Adobe Media Encoder). Although I haven't tried it, I am sure FCPX has been optimized to run great on this machine.
But running Avid on this new machine just doesn't have the crispness and responsiveness I had hoped for. And now with the Scriptsync/Phrasefind thing, I am running out of reasons to stick with Avid. Disappointing.

That's all nice, but I would not expect more features per year. There's a limit to what they can do, of course. They may do a lot of smaller things more often, but it might also mean less bigger requests can be addressed. On 7 sep. 2014, at 16:02, tcurren@aol.com [Avid-L2] <Avid-L2@yahoogroups.com> wrote:We have seen 8.1 which had some long requested features like DPX support. I would imagine another release will be shown at IBC. I would expect that we will now see a new feature releases far more frequently than in the past.
