[Avid-L2] Re: Quick Keys Tricks??

I don't use Quick Keys, but back before Kensington bailed on updating Smart Mouse software (at least on Macs) you could program pulldown menus into the buttons in much the same way (I think) Quick Keys works. One of the things I really loved was setting up patching configurations. I would make sure I had A1 - A8 mapped to my keyboard --at the time, I think only 1-9 were mappable-- as well as the Cycle Trim Sides key. I also had the Auto Patching setting on.

I then programmed macros into a Patching pulldown menu with names like "A1A2 - A7A8." When I selected that configuration, for example, after loading a clip in the source monitor, a series of keystrokes were executed that would patch A1 source to A7 record and A2 source to A8 record. It was a lot of keystrokes, but only a split second of macro time. Saved me a lot of time and mousing.

I miss Smart Mouse.
