I am having a lot of trouble with linked clips going offline spontaneously while MC is up and running and the clips are available. This is happening in 7.0.4 and in 8.1. This is clearly not a drive problem. The clips are still available and can be relinked. It can happen almost immediately after Relinking, when I relink a different file later for instance.
While it may be associated with AMA, we've had this happen with fully consolidated clips and timelines.
It always happens suddenly and is associated with a specific action in MC.
Relink and Media Relatives have triggered the breaking of the links even though the clips that go offline are not involved in these actions and may not even be active in the project at that moment. That is, the bins are closed.
Clips that go offline appear to reverting to prior links that are no longer offline.
Only some clips go off-line and it seems to affect the same clips again and again.
In some cases, rebuilding the Avid media database helped. I have not yet tried rebuilding the AMA databases. I'm still a bit hesitant on that advice as my current online is entirely AMA linked.
Any ideas? Anyone else seeing this? I first saw this on 8.1 and thought it was unique to 8.1 and specific to AMA. None of my other systems had done this, but I'm seeing it for the first time on 7.0.4. This system has been running 7.0.4 since it came out.
Cheers,
tod
