What happens if you drag the media database from the Avid MediaFiles folder where this media lives to an empty bin? Does it populate with master clips?

Fellow Listers:I have some media on my HD that does not link to any clip. IOW, there is no clip in any bin for this media, so I'm trying to create clips linked to the media. I tried using the Media Tool to get Master Clips and it found no clips that match. There is only 1 project on the media drive. I'm running MC 6.5.4 on a Mac Pro 1,1 and OS 10.7.5 with 32GB RAM.I thought I knew how to do this; I guess I don't . . . . Can anyone suggest something I've missed? How can I create clips if all I have are the media files?Dennis Degan, Video Editor-Consultant-Knowledge Bank
