[Avid-L2] BWF import problem, MC 7.0.4

I'm seeing strange behaviour with import of BWF sound files, recorded on a 788T CF recorder.

After normal old-fashioned import, 22 of 27 files give me the errors like the following when I try to load them or play them:

   Audio::PMM_INSUFFICIENT_MEDIA()

   Player version of frame duration is longer than actual

   (17528) (17529)

(The final 2 numbers vary by clip, but are usually only different by 1.)

If I subclip out all but the last frame of these files I can load and play the media without the error message

However, the BWFs load and play without problem if imported via AMA.

The AMA-linked clips also show durations about 5 times longer than the straight import (for all clips).

Not so co-incidentally, the BWF groups each have 5 monophonic files.

The error doesn't occur with normal WAV file import -- only with BWFS.

BWFs show in the bin as 48kHz/24-bit, 23.98 fps when AMA-linked.

Wave Agent also shows them as 48kHz, frame rate of 23.97 ND, lengths that match those of the AMA clips, and 5 mono channels per clip.

Turning off the audio import option "Autodetect broadcast wav monophonic groups" fixes the error message and incorrect duration, but gives me 5 separate mono audio files for each clip.  I guess I can autosequence each group of 5 and then autosync the new sequences to get something close to the group import -- is that likely to give me any problems down the line?

I'm tempted to transcode the AMA imports, since they appear correct, but is it still recommended practice to use old-fashioned import rather than AMA-link and transcode for audio? The latter caused me problems with database corruption on Avid v.6 (using AMA with regular wave files, not BWF, in that case.), so I'm quite wary of it.

MC Project is 1080p/23.98, with audio settings of 48KHz/24-bit

Thanks,
