As I understand it, the new APIs are open, but will require licensing from Avid. This means, for example, that a shared storage supplier who wants to add Avid-approved project sharing will have to license that technology from Avid. It may well mean that some of their own workarounds could stop working correctly with newer software and systems. We have yet to see if anything ultimately breaks these non-Avid solutions.
