The Pro Tools|Cloud presentation at Avid Connect was preceeded by a PowerPoint slide that was full, top-to-bottom, left-to-right, with legalese to the effect of "This is a proof of concept. We will ship this eventually. We don't know when eventually is. Don't base your purchase of stock on this presentation."
They had a similar slide at IBC 2010 when they demonstrated the Disk Cache that was part of what was announced one month later as Pro Tools 10. Prior to IBC 2010, they never demonstrated or announced anything unless it was going to ship within the same financial quarter of the demonstration or announcement. Maybe the lawyers finally figured out some way around Sarbanes-Oxley?
Good point, but I'm sure Avid has announced/shown a new version at nab and given a ship date "by the end of Q2 or Q3 (which takes them through IBC)."
Is AJA private? Because they showed their coming camera. And, JVC showed their coming camcorders.
