Media Production Support Manager
Job DescriptionThe Broadcast Operations and Engineering division designs, builds and provides technical support for the ABC Television Network. The Network Editing department maintains all editing, archive and playback facilities for the ABC Television Network. 

The Media Production Support Manager will be responsible for maintaining the editing systems and ancillary equipment within the technical facilities in New York. This person will evaluate new technology solutions and help coordinate the implementation of capital projects. The Media Production Support Manager will play a role in ensuring that the technology roadmap for the Editing Department is in accordance with BO&E strategic planning. This person will provide daily support of equipment and production groups working in the Editing environments. This individual will interface with other Support areas, Engineering and Executive Management. He/she will be responsible for maintaining budgets, lead projects as assigned and develop reports and presentations as required. This individual must possess a thorough understanding of a broadcast environment and effectively apply his/her knowledge – production workflows, signal routing, SD and HD digital video and audio systems, SMPTE and other technical standards, IT systems and IT networking and fiber infrastructure.
Responsibilities• Oversee the support of the editing facilities primarily servicing ABCNews and Daytime clients. 
• Planning, installation and management of a variety of broadcast equipment such as Avid, EVS and Omneon and Adobe. 
• Understanding our business needs and industry trends for strategic long term growth planning. 
• Prepare analysis/reports for immediate and senior level management, as required. 
• Work with Engineering and business partners to implement strategic vision set forth by Division leaders.
Basic Qualifications•Minimum 3 years technical support experience in broadcast support or cable facility. 
• Ability to plan/develop, install and manage systems using a variety of broadcast equipment such as Avid, EVS, Omneon and Adobe. 
• Excellent knowledge of signal processing, transport and transmission equipment. 
• Excellent knowledge of digital audio and video standards and equipment. 
• Experience working in a live broadcast environment. 
• Current ACSR certification. 
• Expert knowledge of ISIS, Avid workgroups, Transfer Manager, Capture Manager and Interplay. 
• Strong maintenance skill with EVS and Omneon playback servers. 
• Excellent PC and broadcast troubleshooting skills. 
• Strong knowledge of IT Networking – including VLAN's, Layer 2 & 3, IP addressing and route tables. 
• Strong computer background, knowledge of various OS platforms, diagnostics, BIOS, event viewing and services vs processes. 
• Experience with Domain administration. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
• Strong organizational skills. 
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technology. 
• Work well independently as well as in a team environment. 
• Effectively communicate with users, support personnel, management and vendors. 
• Flexible work hours, we are a 24/7 facility, work evening, weekends, holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications• Minimum 5+ years technical support experience in broadcast support or cable facility. 
• Experience supervising represented employees and familiarity with the NABET contract. 
• Server experience, RAID configurations. 
• Image development and deployment. 
• Extensive experience with signal processing, transport and transmission equipment. 
• Work well under pressure with very tight timeframes and deadlines. 
• Willingness to be very flexible with work schedules, vacation and hours. 
• Experience in professional news and broadcast environments. 
• Willingness to travel on occasion, if necessary. 
• Experience in managing a small team of technical people. 
• Experience in technical writing, such as technical manuals and briefs.
Preferred Education• Avid ACSR certification 
• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer or Electronics Technology 
• SBE Broadcast Certification
Required Education• Associates degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent work experience
