Re: [Avid-L2] RE: Avid's biggest challenges

Dint misunderstand me I really liked Scratch just as I liked Cyborg before it but it didn't keep adding the compositing power I need for my kind of work.
And yes it does seem that Apple is actively trying to mess with developers:)

The only innovation we see is in flavour of the month companies who see big sales for a short duration. Scratch? Where's that now?

The truth is we are all part of the problem. Smoke for 3 grand, avid for 1k, davinci for free... What right do we have at those prices to have any expectations?

Do people here really think avid dont want to make great products? I'm sure they do but the number if talented programmers a 1k product can support has to be in single digits.

There are two licenses for SCRATCH at the facility I work at.  v8 has been touted on several occasions and not yet released.  Assimilate's development cycles appear to be slowing down.  Is that because of a lack of cash?  It is because of all the changes on the Mac OS side (Darth Vader Trashcan, Mavericks, etc.)?

Assimilate has publicly stated that "free" is not their business model, which was essentially a direct shot at the way Blackmagic does business.  Assimilate's prices have dropped significantly in 4 years.  It reminds me of the price drop that Symphony has gone through over a longer period of time.
