Re: [Avid-L2] RE: Upgrade Dilemma

This is super useful experience. Thanks. I would like to be moving forward with new capabilities, formats, processing. Sounds like MC7 w/Symphony option is a solid move.

Yes that's correct V6.5.4 allows compatibility with V7. It also has a number of bug fixes etc.

I'd be inclined to suggest you consider if V7 gives you anything you need?

The color correction isn't different in V7 so you may find you aren't gaining much.

V7.0.2 is improved over the original V7 release but it still isn't as stable as V6.5 (and I guess even that's not as stable as V5.5 was :-)

I'd have to say V7.0.2 is stable enough to be used and relied upon but it's still a .0 release....

Hey L's,

I am doing the symphony upgrade dance going from pre 6.5 to either 6.5.4 or 7.0.2. I may have this wrong, but here is what I understand. If I do not have the correct please enlighten me.

Apparently with the killing of the separate symphony line I have to either choose between:

a.       upgrade to 6.5.4 Symphony

or

b.      upgrade to MC 7.0.2 w/ Symphony add-on (but with backward compatibility to MC 6.5(.4).

Do I have this right?

I looked to see how MC 7.0.2 w/ Symphony is performing but I have not seen much other than some people have difficulty on MBP's. I run a Z800 with 24GD RAM. My inclination is to move forward but would love some feedback.

Thanks in advance,
