Or wait a week or so and just bite the 10.9 bullet…

I'm already taking a (small) chance with 10.8.5 + MC 7,
I'll pass on 10.9 'till it's officially qualified. I've already had my
fill of crashes and beach ball hangs. But I'll take Jeff Hedberg's
good advice and get 10.9 when it releases and just hang on to it
for the future.

Ugh . . . what to do, what to do . . .
My system is a "Late 2011" MBP, so
I'm hoping it will like 10.8.5 and
play nice with MC 7.0.2, too.

I'm backing up all my files as I write this.
I have work over the weekend, so I figure
I'll install the new OS next week.
Wish me luck ;)

I *personally* wish I hadn't bumped from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 on my trusty
crusty MBP4,1 -- it seemed to introduce a rather odd "daily freeze"
(locks up solid, fans on afterburner) -- but a recent patch may have
helped that a bit. But as is SOP for Apple, there was no up front
acknowledgement of any issues -- just a low-key patch snuck out to fix
"something".

If I had it to do over, I would avoid the 10.8.5 update and stay at
10.8.4. My tower (MacPro3,1) is going to stay at 10.8.4 if I can at all
help it.

Note, however, that the crApp Store update mechanism does everything it
can to trick you into installing it -- including sneaking it in when
you're led to believe you're only updating iTunes.

That's *extremely* bad behavior for a self-proclaimed high-end
professional OS, but unfortunately its become expected behavior for what
amounts to a life support system for a phone.

Bad Apple.

Bad.
