Re: [Avid-L2] Symphony 6.0.4 with Decklink 4K Ext. can't find coincidence point on capture?

Relax coincidence point detection is in Deck preferences, I believe. Try checking that box and see if it's better. (not a console command, a straight checkbox in Avid user prefs)

Now that I've swapped our Decklink 4K extreme it is now registering in system info and it works with the media express app and Avid Symphony 6.0.4 on MacPro 12Core OS 10.8.3 BlackMagic Desktop manager 7.7 the latest one on the BM site.  For some reason in Avid I can not capture or batch capture with in and out points or even just an in point with our Sony decks.  We have a DVW-A500 and a BVW-70.  Trying to capture from in house blacked tapes it will pre roll and roll up to the in point and then error out saying "coincidence point not found" or whatever the exact verbage is.  I can  however roll the machine and hit record and it will capture a frame accurate clip.  If I hook up one of our Panasonic AF-D96 decks it will capture properly.  I tried manually configuring the deck protocol to Sony when hooked up to the Panny deck and I started to get the coincidence point error.  I also tried controlling the Sony DVW-A500 with Panasonic protocol and I got the coincidence point error.  I have taken the digibeta out of 4F to 2F with no change.  I have extended the preroll to 10 seconds and I still get the error.  These are in house black and code tapes that captured fine with the Black Magic Media express app.  I switched the capture setting from best available time code to standard time code and no change.  I pulled the reference input off the Decklink 4K no change.  I blanked all the Vertical Interval to avoid a VITC conflict.

In the past I've seen cases where different Rosetta Stone devices worked for different brands of decks.  For example an Avid all in one PC com port to RS 422 adapter would work with a Panny deck but not a J30SDI.  It wouldn't communicate at all.  In my current case it communicates but can't find a coincidence point when there is an in point or a batch capture.  I trashed the .avs file in the project because I've seen that mess with batch capture before.  This is a new install on a system that had the trial expire on Ver. 7 media composer.  I uninstalled V. 7 and installed V. 6.0.4 for a trial and then installed the Black magic driver desktop manager.  Everything works as expected except for capturing from our Sony decks.  I seem to recall someone mentioning a console command to relax tolerance on deck control recently but I can't seem to find that in the topics list.  Anybody got any suggestions?  And is anybody running the decklink 4K extreme with Avid and capturing from Sony decks.

My next steps when I'm back in the room will be to try a keyspan and set the digibeta to read ltc only at the deck.  I doubt the ltc only will have an effect because the BVW-70 tape I used had no VITC and it still couldn't find the coincidence point.
