Go to the menu settings 202. See if changing that affects it.

Relax coincidence point did the trick and I'm happily capturing frame accurately from both Sony and Panny decks, based on the machines time code window displaying time code at the bottom of the frame to avoid the field offset when the tc window is at the top of the from. One curiosity after all is said and done when I auto config to one of our SD Panny AJ-D930 decks it thinks it's a BVW-75. Usually the auto config is wrong on the Panny decks but it at least gets the manufacturer correct on our 1200A and 1400 models. Not a big deal but I hadn't noticed that behavior before but then I've rarely used anything but the 1400 and 1200 decks.

Clearly there seems to be an under the hood issue here. I can't believe people are using these cards in a tape environment with success but perhaps there is something weird on this fairly virgin system that I just haven't found yet.
