So, my new SSD and RAM from OWC arrived just now and I have to move my current MacBookPro hard drive info over to the SSD.
They recommend putting the SSD into the Mac, then running the old HD in an enclosure that they provide which attaches via USB. Then booting off the old attached drive, formatting the SSD and installing a fresh OS version onto it. Then duplicating the drive info to the new drive.
Since this is just a new drive and not a new computer, am I cool not de-commissioning or deactivating all of my apps, specifically Avid and Adobe?
I'm fine with not even really "ghosting" the old drive since I kind of want to start fresh anyway, other than my email.
Any thoughts or dire warnings on this process? The instructions from OWC on the whole procedure seem very good. My main concern is in how the apps will respond to the new drive. No need to deactivate, right?
Steve
