I use Wirecast a fair bit, too. If they are going to stream via
UStream, they can use the UStream branded version of Wirecast,
UStream Producer. It's cheaper but can only stream to UStream.
They'll need a computer with two Firewire busses (add a Firewire
card). Computer's too noisy to have in the studio, I would think,
so they'll need longer Firewire cables. They can get up to 70
foot cables at markertek.com. DV cameras only run at 100mbps, not
Firewire's full 400mbps, so you can use longer cables...
Very easy with Wirecast to set up the kind of split screen shot
you described.
