[Avid-L2] Re: Media Composer 7 Official!

And what is my premise?

My thesis, however, was that MC is and have been for a long time under-priced. And the whole world switching over to FCP doesn't prove that thesis wrong. The whole world may simply be switching to a product that is even more under-priced, which in case of FCP is certainly true.

You seem to be using the fact that indeed many avid users at some point used, experimented or even switched over to FCP as evidence that FCP is a better product. Well, first of all that was back in FCP6 and & years. I don't see anybody jumping MC for FCPX. (Well, maybe some ski-hatters :)

And even then, FCP 6-7 wasn't a more capable product. It was a sufficiently capable product. The Avid's bitter truth is that one doesn't have to have an MC for every project. Some projects can be done just fine with FCP6-7. And this is the main reason some Avid users went with FCP. They were later burnt and left twisting in the wind, but, hey, that's another story.

OK, stuff this in your pipe: if you use FCP, it may mean that you don't need more capable MediaComposer. Which doesn't mean you are a bad person, or a lesser editor. It also doesn't mean MC is not under-priced.

Cheers!
