I signed up to Carbonite for a 3 year deal - it was cheap - but it just doesn't work properly - or completely, anyway. Multiple re-installations have not made one jot of difference. The impression I get from reading the legions of posts from frustrated customers is that it works better on a PC than on a Mac. I did have one temporary breakthrough by disabling backup for the Applications Folder and it briefly sprang in to life - and then came to a grinding halt again.
But this sums it up perfectly: as I write this - "Backup" is set to "Enabled" - my MacPro has 3GB "Awaiting Backup" and the "Backup Status" is in "idle" rather than "Backing up your remaining 3GB right now dear customer".
Also, note in the review that you mentioned: "CON: Does not backup video files by default" - and there is no way of tricking it into doing anything it doesn't want to do. If it refuses to work, it just sits there doing nothing.
